Firstly, I would like to thank you for what you do with this huge project. When I learned that Paradox cancelled the game I was realy sad. To see that passionates people like you are making an amazing job to save it is a pleasure, so thank you for that. Then, I'm french, so sorry if my English isn't perfect. It 'll surely be a lot of mistakes.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Ronan. I'm 22 and as I said, I come from France. I'm a PoliSci student at a French prestigious school named "Sciences Po" which is what we call in France a "Grande Ecole" . I'm also chronicler for a website about History and Video Games, which is directly concerning you. If you agree, I would like to realize a small video of presentation of what you are doing with this project in order to present it to our community.

We already realized some itw with Dan Lind from Paradox concerning HOI IV for example or a let's play with Byzance in Europa Universalis IV (yes I swear ! ) for our Youtube Channel. The fact is that our community likes a lot grand strategy video games and we would like to help you to be more known and famous so please let me know if you are ok about the video I want to realise. An interview could be cool too and it could allow you to present to the french fan of grand strategy your project.

This sounds like a good idea but I don't think any of the "official" representatives of this community are around anymore - i.e. the people who sourced the leak and began to work on it (such as VikingPanda). Those of us who are still around are just those who are playing it and trying to figure out workarounds and fixes for ourselves (though there is one member who was/is releasing their own updates).

My point is that I don't believe you're going to be able to receive the permission you're searching for or an interview. Though since this leak, I believe, is technically illegal and the creators of this board don't hold any real rights to the game, I would think that you can do as you please in relation to a video. In any case you have my personal support if it means spreading the game around and generating more fans.

I didn't know it was a leak. I always believed that Paradox had willingly let the files to modders

I actually don't know the situation there but I've been led to believe it was a leak. I'd still recommend covering it on your website but be wary of any copyright issues before doing so.

The more fundamental issue is that EvW is basically unfinishable - basically it is an unplayable mess. This project will never create a playable game because it lacks the tools necessary to do so as they lack the source-code to the game.

I've found the game quite playable if you're patient with it and are aware of some of the workarounds - but only if. It's still plagued by CTD bugs and only really worth playing if you really want to, like I do.
