im not part of the dev team but i think its safe to say, east vs west is too broken to save unless something really changes, and with activity on the forum really dying down im just going to state the obvious that it cant be fixed. I really had hope that this project would get results and it definately was the most effort to trying to fix the leaked copy we had but i think the game is just to much of a mess in the end and we have to just accept that. but i also know there are a ton of talented people who put effort into this idea of fixing it on this forum and i think when hearts of iron 4 comes out that i would like to try to make a real team of people and make a cold war mod for hearts of iron 4 on the scale of east vs west was meant to be.

Actually it is not at all too abstract or simplified. It is far more complex than HoI3 was. HoI3 was a mess and it is no surprise that EvW failed since the base game which they had to work with was awful.

This is basically what I've been telling people was likely going to be the case since they announced the open Beta: EvW was not likely to be finished in any reasonable time frame, and any time or money spent trying to do so was likely wasted. Of course the dev team talked up the prospect of it being finished, exaggerated (either intentionally or not) the extent to which it was a working game, but once we saw the leak it was very clear that the game was basically (after 3 years of development time) still at an early Alpha stage.

Maybe a bit offtopic, but I don't think we're done. I have a suggestion to make, if there is still anyone around:

Source Engine 2 will be released pretty soon and the engine will make it possible to create games like "EvW" and publish them on Steam with all important features like Workshop etc. etc. quite easily.
Is anyone interested in working on such a project? Especially the guys who are working/who worked on East vs. West.
A fan made open source game for the whole community to play and mod, extend etc. etc. would be great. Paradox' games will never be as moddable as they should be, so it will never be possible to create huge projects like "Victoria 2: Ultimate" or stuff like that based on them.

What do you think about my idea? I would like to see some replys!
